Our childrens ministry strives to guide your children in developing the foundations of their own faith. We try to provide them with opportunities throughout the year to accomplish that goal. Besides our Bible-based Sunday School classes and children’s choir, we have a strong AWANA program. Together, we can make a difference in a child’s life.

Weekly Activities

Sunday School

9.30 – 10.30am Sundays
The purpose of Sunday School is to lay a strong Biblical foundation for children, while encouraging them to become regularly involved in church. Through Sunday School, children are better able to understand and apply scripture to their lives.

Children’s Church
10.30 – 12.30pm Sundays
The purpose of children’s church is to provide a time for children ages pre-kindergarten to 4th grade to learn the basics of our faith through stories, games, and crafts related to a particular biblical theme. We have separate programs for our 1st through 4 graders and our Pre-Kindergarten through 1st grade. While their parents are in the worship service, our leaders work with the children and encourage them to learn more about God’s Word and His love for them. The older children exit the worship service as a group during the offering and the younger ones stay in the children’s building after Sunday School for their program. Parents pick them up all the children immediately following the service.

Good News Club
3.30pm Wednesdays
This program is a weekly, after-school, evangelical community outreach for 1st through 4th graders who attend elementary school in alief.  This one hour a week includes:

  • Dynamic Bible Lessons
  • Creative Learning Activities
  • Inspiring Missionary Stories
  • Meaningful Songs
  • Life-changing Scripture Memory

Your child will learn:

  • Respect for authority
  • Moral values
  • Character qualities
  • Biblical principles

The program is led by teachers who are concerned for the spiritual well-being of your children and who are trained by Child Evangelism Fellowship. All club workers have been carefully screened as required by CEF’s child protection policy.  Your children are encouraged to stay afterward for Big Fish and A.W.A.N.A.

Big Fish
5pm Wednesdays
This is a time where volunteers help children with their homework and provide a light supper  before our Awana program begins. It provides a bridge between Good News Club and A.W.A.N.A., giving children in the Good News Club, who might not otherwise come to our church, an opportunity to attend our children’s activities.  This program is open to all children who attend AWANA.

A.W.A.N.A.
6.15pm Wednesdays
A Bible-centered program built around a weekly evening meeting. A club meeting consists of Game Time, Handbook Time, and Council Time. Our staff is trained throughout the year to work with children and to provide a loving and secure environment that children will enjoy.
