Chad has sent us our first report on the mission trip to Kenya! He sent the email early this morning at around 5:30am CDT with a photo of the team at Bush Intercontinental Airport before they departed for Dubai:
Dear Friends,
After a night of little sleep (or none for some of us), packing and repacking to meet weight regulations (which we didn’t), car trouble on the way to the airport, a “forgotten” issuance of one of our boarding passes, complications with security, broken zippers on our luggage,a growing list of forgotten items, and a fifteen hour flight across the world (and numerous time zones) … we have arrived safely in Dubai, United Arab Emirates – our stopover point between Houston and Nairobi, Kenya.

at Bush Intercontinental, before boarding
With all the stress, concern, exhaustion, and overall craziness of the last 24 hours, we must admit that we have been blessed. Not only did we arrive safely in Dubai relaxed and well-fed, we were also allowed overweight bags and extra luggage to fly for free with no complications. In addition, the airline staff helped us to board the plan (literally)just before take off – after receiving our team’s last boarding pass after the third “final” boarding announcement. Despite what it may look like to others, we know God has been gracious to his children and watched over us.
Lord willing, we will soon arrive in Nairobi and then drive out to the Kenya Baptist Theological College in Limuru where we will be housed and teach classes over the next couple weeks. In addition or our courses (Darren and Jessica: Evangelism and Missions, Stacy: Experiencing God, Chad: Personal Spiritual Formation and Discipleship) we will be doing local church ministry, orphan ministry, discipleship, and evangelism with our Kenya ministry partners.
We covet your prayers for our Kenyan mission. Please pray that the Lord would:
- Grant us smooth and safe travel into Kenya and the KBTC at Limuru
- Keep us healthy and safe throughout the duration of our mission
- Give us ample opportunities to share the good news of Jesus Christ
and encourage in both word and deed - Prepare our spirits and bodies for our instruction and other ministry
- Open the minds and hearts of the dear Kenyans we will encounter to receive truth
- Help us to discern long-term Kenya ministry partnerships for our church
Thank you all for your support! We will be back in touch soon!
